Introducing The Gospelman RPG!

https://www.patreon.com/GospelmanMinistries

Hello, Gospelchums!

Here's a project I've been working on for ... gosh, a year or two, I can't remember... It originally started out in Adventure Game Studio with aspirations for Game Maker Studio, but was ultimately put on hold due to my limited programming skills. About a month ago I picked it back up as an RPG instead of a point-and-click adventure game. The two genres have a lot in common, despite looking different. Justin Phlegar and I used to create tons of games back around 2003 using RPG Maker 2000, so I already know how to use the software. I've been writing the game for the past couple of years in two notebooks. It doesn't seem like much, but compared to the other game makers, I got a LOT of progress done today. The Gospelman sprite is complete, I can move him around with the game controller, he can jump (but I'm having difficulties mapping it to the controller, so it's keypad only for now), I've got a mock up of his superhero car the Gospel Van for him to jump in and take off, a fully functioning Spiritual Health Meter and a wallet displayed on screen, and the beginnings of the Prayer Request and Missions Journal menu that keeps track of the things for the player. There's obviously a long way to go, but we're making progress. This is a LONG term project. I'm creating it to have Christian life and ministry education applications, with the hopes of it also being fun and challenging. I wanted to create it in the vein of Curse of Monkey Island, but the RPG genre is also a love of mine (minus the turn style battles, which I hate), because I love games that are heavy on story driven narrative, especially when they're enjoyable to experience. No, the game has no plans of incorporating a battle system at this time. More to come sporadically in the future.

*Edit: I think there may be a way to incorporate a Battle System after all, but it's not yet set in stone. Something appropriate for the series.
